About this experience

Aldeyjarfoss waterfall has geologically interesting surroundings. Tumbling through a narrow passage into a wide basin, with black basalt columns that provide a stark contrast against the thrashing white foaming water, making it one of Iceland’s photographic gems. Aldeyjarfoss is one of most impressive waterfalls on the Skjálfandafljót River’s route from the Vatnajökull glacier.

The Lofthellir ice cave tour was exceptional and includes a hike across a lava field before going into the cave. Our guide Anton is local and was incredibly knowledgeable about the geology and formations as well as the ecosystem. This is one of my favorite things I’ve done in Iceland.
