About this experience
This private Golden Circle tour is designed for families with older children (8+) who want to explore Iceland’s most famous sights at a comfortable pace and end the day with a relaxing spa experience. It combines nature, light adventure, and downtime—perfect for curious kids and relaxed parents.
Your day begins with a visit to Þingvellir National Park, where children can clearly see how Iceland was shaped by moving tectonic plates. The guide explains history, geology, and Viking stories in an engaging, age-appropriate way, encouraging questions and curiosity.
Next, you’ll head to the Geysir Geothermal Area, home to the famous Strokkur geyser. Watching the ground bubble and erupt every few minutes is exciting even for older kids, while learning how geothermal energy works adds an educational element to the experience.
At Gullfoss, families can safely enjoy one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls from well-maintained viewpoints. The dramatic landscape, roaring water, and mist make this a memorable stop for both children and adults.
After a day of sightseeing, the tour finishes at Laugarás, where your family can unwind in geothermal pools. The calm atmosphere is ideal for children aged 8 and up, offering a relaxing way to soak tired legs and reflect on the day’s adventures.
As a private tour, everything is flexible:
- Adjusted pacing for your family
- Plenty of breaks and photo stops
- Comfortable private vehicle
- Child-friendly guiding focused on learning and enjoyment
This experience is ideal for families who want quality time together, meaningful learning for kids, and a balance between exploration and relaxation—all in one unforgettable Icelandic day.

We went on a tour around the Snaefellsnes peninsula with Tomasz, which we booked with him after spending a fantastic day with him earlier in the week. Tomasz makes personalised adjustments to the tours so you’re not just seeing the big highlights but also some of the lesser visited sights, including some which are off the tourist track altogether. He’s super knowledgeable about Iceland and passionate about what he does so you get a truly informed and enjoyable experience. The Snaefellsnes peninsula itself is stunningly beautiful, with a new and awe inspiring view around every corner. Less touristy than the golden circle and south coast tours but more than worth exploring!

We did the South Coast tour with Tomasz. We had an incredible day. Tomasz is an amazing guide - super friendly, and really knowledgeable about Iceland. He knows all the places to go to avoid too many other tourists. The glacier hike was definitely the highlight - Tomasz is very experienced and provided all the kit, he took care of us and made us feel at ease. Could not recommend Tomasz and Taste Iceland more highly!

A trip to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula with Taste Iceland was much more than just sightseeing. It was a true feast for the soul, filled with admiration for Iceland's nature, history, and unique atmosphere. Snæfellsnes is rightly called "Iceland in miniature." In a single day, you can see everything this country has to offer. Rugged cliffs, majestic mountains, lava fields, black sand beaches, and picturesque villages create landscapes that will linger in your memory for a long time. The real highlight of this trip, however, was our guide, Tomek. His knowledge of Iceland is impressive, but even more impressive is the way he tells the story. He made every place take on a new meaning. The island's history, local legends, geology, nature, and the everyday lives of Icelanders intertwine into a fascinating story that you'd want to listen to over and over again. It's clear that Tomek loves Iceland and shares his knowledge with immense passion. Thanks to this, you don't just admire beautiful views, but truly experience and understand this extraordinary country. If you dream of Iceland, want to see its most beautiful corners, and at the same time hear stories told by people who know and love the island, tours with Taste Iceland are the best choice. Thank you for a day full of emotion, delight, and memories that will stay with me for a very long time.

Lagoons & spas — questions people ask
Is the Blue Lagoon worth it or is it too touristy?
It is busy and it is worth it, once. The water is milky blue from silica, the setting in the Reykjanes lava is unlike anywhere else, and it sits twenty minutes from Keflavík Airport, so it fits an arrival or departure day. Book a time slot in advance; it sells out. If crowds bother you, go early morning or after 20:00. The Secret Lagoon or Fontana on the Golden Circle are calmer and cheaper alternatives.
Can I do the Blue Lagoon on the way to or from the airport?
Yes, and it is the best way to use it. Transfers like IceTransfer's Keflavík to Blue Lagoon to Reykjavík (/experience/1036423/) or the reverse (/experience/1036419/) stop at the lagoon for a few hours with your luggage stored. Allow at least three hours at the lagoon and check that your slot lines up with your flight. Note that the Reykjanes eruptions have closed the lagoon at short notice; check its status before travelling.
What is the difference between the Secret Lagoon and the Blue Lagoon?
The Secret Lagoon at Flúðir is a simple, warm geothermal pool with a bubbling hot spring beside it and basic changing rooms. It is on the Golden Circle, so it slots into a sightseeing day (/experience/17050/, /experience/624446/). The Blue Lagoon is a spa: silica masks, swim-up bar, saunas and a price to match. If you want a soak after a day of waterfalls, Secret Lagoon. If you want the spa day, Blue Lagoon.
Do I have to shower naked before a pool in Iceland?
Yes, at every public pool and most lagoons. Swimwear off, wash thoroughly with soap, swimwear on, then into the water. It is a hygiene rule because Icelandic pools use very little chlorine, and it is taken seriously. Changing rooms are single-sex with open showers; some larger lagoons have a few private cubicles. Nobody looks. It feels odd for thirty seconds and then it does not.
