About this experience
Discover one of Iceland’s most breathtaking regions on a private, family-friendly journey along the South Coast, thoughtfully designed for families traveling with children. This full-day experience focuses on comfort, safety, and meaningful moments- allowing your family to explore at a relaxed pace without crowds or pressure.
Travel east along the dramatic South Coast, where glaciers, waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, and sweeping ocean views create a constantly changing backdrop. With your private local guide, the day is fully adapted to your family’s needs, including flexible timing, regular comfort stops, and easy-access locations suitable for kids of different ages.
The highlight of the tour is a visit to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where massive icebergs drift slowly across the water after breaking away from a nearby glacier. Children are fascinated by the colors, shapes, and movement of the ice, while parents enjoy the calm atmosphere and unforgettable scenery. Your guide shares simple explanations and stories that bring the landscape to life in an engaging, child-friendly way.
Just minutes away, explore Diamond Beach, where crystal-clear pieces of ice rest on black volcanic sand. This is a favorite stop for families- open, safe, and visually striking, with plenty of time for photos, gentle exploration, and shared moments together.
This tour is designed to feel easy and stress-free. There are no long hikes, no rushing, and no fixed schedules. Everything- from route selection to pacing is planned with children’s comfort and safety in mind, allowing parents to relax and fully enjoy the day.
As a 100% private tour, your family benefits from personal attention, flexibility, and a calm, exclusive atmosphere. Whether it’s your children’s first visit to Iceland or a special highlight of your trip, this experience turns iconic sights into lasting family memories.

Who this is not for
- Not a good fit if you want a relaxed day: 12 hours is a long time on the road, most of it spent getting there and back.
- Priced per vehicle, so it is poor value for one or two people and good value for four or more sharing.
Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.
Why we list it
Taste Iceland is one of 207 operators we work with — chosen for reliability, honest descriptions and how they treat guests when weather changes plans. We don't list everything; we list what we'd book ourselves. The six checks every operator passes →

We went on a tour around the Snaefellsnes peninsula with Tomasz, which we booked with him after spending a fantastic day with him earlier in the week. Tomasz makes personalised adjustments to the tours so you’re not just seeing the big highlights but also some of the lesser visited sights, including some which are off the tourist track altogether. He’s super knowledgeable about Iceland and passionate about what he does so you get a truly informed and enjoyable experience. The Snaefellsnes peninsula itself is stunningly beautiful, with a new and awe inspiring view around every corner. Less touristy than the golden circle and south coast tours but more than worth exploring!

We did the South Coast tour with Tomasz. We had an incredible day. Tomasz is an amazing guide - super friendly, and really knowledgeable about Iceland. He knows all the places to go to avoid too many other tourists. The glacier hike was definitely the highlight - Tomasz is very experienced and provided all the kit, he took care of us and made us feel at ease. Could not recommend Tomasz and Taste Iceland more highly!

A trip to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula with Taste Iceland was much more than just sightseeing. It was a true feast for the soul, filled with admiration for Iceland's nature, history, and unique atmosphere. Snæfellsnes is rightly called "Iceland in miniature." In a single day, you can see everything this country has to offer. Rugged cliffs, majestic mountains, lava fields, black sand beaches, and picturesque villages create landscapes that will linger in your memory for a long time. The real highlight of this trip, however, was our guide, Tomek. His knowledge of Iceland is impressive, but even more impressive is the way he tells the story. He made every place take on a new meaning. The island's history, local legends, geology, nature, and the everyday lives of Icelanders intertwine into a fascinating story that you'd want to listen to over and over again. It's clear that Tomek loves Iceland and shares his knowledge with immense passion. Thanks to this, you don't just admire beautiful views, but truly experience and understand this extraordinary country. If you dream of Iceland, want to see its most beautiful corners, and at the same time hear stories told by people who know and love the island, tours with Taste Iceland are the best choice. Thank you for a day full of emotion, delight, and memories that will stay with me for a very long time.
