About Björk Guesthouse
Björk Guesthouse sits in the village of Laugarvatn, in a house with a real story behind it. It was designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, the architect behind Hallgrímskirkja and the National Theatre, and built using timber from the 1930 Parliament Celebration at Þingvellir. Brothers Alexander and Kristófer have owned and run it for years and take real pride in the place.
There are 7 rooms sleeping up to 18 guests. Recent additions include new showers, fresh ventilation, EV charging, an honesty bar and a small welcome chocolate in each room. Breakfast is at Héraðsskólinn Hostel, 150 metres away.
The location is genuinely hard to beat. The newly renovated Fontana Geothermal Baths are right on the lake. Lindin Restaurant is a short walk away and worth a visit for the reindeer burger and arctic char. And if you want something a bit different, Caves of Laugarvatn just up the road offers guided tours through lava caves where an Icelandic family actually lived 100 years ago, including traditional tastings of fermented shark and Brennivín.
The village sits on the Golden Circle, so Þingvellir is 15 minutes away, Geysir around 20 and Gullfoss not much further.
