Hestaland

Hestaland runs sightseeing day tours in Reykjavík. We book them directly, so what you see here is their own availability and their own cancellation policy — at the same price you'd pay them.

“We offer 90-minute trail rides with a prep lesson for riders of all levels. We also offer a 2,5h trail ride for advanced riders and Farm Visits for those who'd like to learn about the Icelandic horse. We also have a cozy guesthouse and two 3-bedroom cabins with mountain views.”

All of the above is computed from Hestaland's own 3 product records, not from a questionnaire. Fleet size and typical group sizes are the figures a comparison table usually shows; Bókun does not carry them, so we would be guessing, and we would rather leave a gap than fill it in.

From the operator's own Bókun vendor record. Had a wonderful week in June at Hestaland for their knitting and riding retreat. The staff was great, horses lovely, tolting is so much fun, and finished a lopapeysa sweater in a week! Add in hot spring and sheep farm, what is not to love? Kirsti was an amazing leader for our riding and knitting. Hope to get back again for more riding

This experience at Hestaland was a peak experience. I couldn’t stop smiling all week. The people, the horse, the landscape and community warmed my heart and spirit.

Wonderful staff and beautiful horses. The guide made sure everyone got to experience the tilt gate the horses are known for. Nice ride along a little river with small waterfalls and rapids. At one point the guide stopped and took our picture.

If you are an experienced rider, this is the trip of a lifetime. Trekking with Icelandic horses with new friends across picturesque landscapes was incredible!

Questions about booking Hestaland

Is it cheaper to book Hestaland directly?

No. We sell Hestaland's tours at the price they set, through their own booking system, so the seat costs the same here as on their site. What you get here in addition is one checkout for every tour in your trip, whoever runs it, and one place to turn if plans change.

Does Hestaland pick up from hotels?

None of the 3 Hestaland tours we sell includes a hotel pickup. Each tour page gives the meeting point.

Which languages are Hestaland tours guided in?

Their tours are guided in English and Icelandic, according to their own product records. Where a tour is audio-guided rather than led by a person, the tour page says so.

Is there a minimum age on Hestaland tours?

Yes, on 2 of their 3 tours, the lowest being 6. The rest set no minimum. The planner filters by your youngest traveller if you give it ages.

How is Hestaland rated?

4.6 out of 5 on Google from 156 reviews of the company. That is the operator's score, not a rating of any one tour; our own guests' reviews of their tours, where we have them, are shown on this page and on the tour pages.

Not sure which of these fits your dates? The planner checks real departures and builds the day around them.
